Home Stage Tip #:717 "The Kitchen Series" - "Scene within a Scene and a Cascade"
What was Karen thinking?
We are continuing with our series of our tiny working class home. However, it is a diamond in the rough and with the right touches, we can make it simply irresistible for exactly the right buyer. This is not a fancy home, but these little places are a goldmine for an APSD™ Certified Home Stager. They are quick, easy and profitable.
We are going to complete the Kitchen Home Staging Scene with a Scene and a Cascade.
Create a Scene: First of all, we have to create CCTF; Color, Continuity, Theme and Flow. Remember the table with the dishes and the apples? Well, we can repeat those same colors, the dishes and apples right on the counter. Since the counter is white and so is the overall color of the dish we will accent it by placing it on top of a green cloth.
Begin the Cascade. Now we took a painted picture of apples and placed it above the bowl, against the backsplash. The foundation of the painting is the color of charcoal as is the backsplash, so they work well together. Obviously, the apples in the painting work well with the apples in the bowl on the counter and the green in the painting coordinate with the green cloth in the towel beneath the bowl. See—there is always a method to my madness.
Next comes the white and green towel that is flowing out of the drawer just beneath the counter. This completes the “Cascade” but also gives us hint as to the Pocket of Emotion. ™
Then we layered in a Pocket of Emotion™. Oh, well we can never get enough rubber chickens in a Kitchen! We placed 2 more coordinating towels in the kitchen drawer, placed natural colored raffia on top to create a nest, then added our rubber chicken and an egg…we don’t know which came first! How much do you love that!!!
If you would like to learn more about scene creation, Pockets of Emotion™, and staging cascades, just check in with us each and every week! I love doing this…don’t you? Let’s hear it for Home Stagers!

The book we choose to review this month is "Who Moved my Cheese", by Spencer Johnson and Kenneth Blanchard - http://astore.amazon.com/simpappe-20. It is a short book and a quick read but don’t let its size deter you, it has a very powerful message!
The book tells the story of two mice and two little people who live in a maze and eat cheese.
One day they notice that the supply of cheese is starting to diminish and they each react in a different way to this discovery.
In life we are constantly dealing with change and it is our own attitude that decides whether
change is a good thing or a bad thing. It is very easy become paralyzed and afraid, but over coming this fear, greeting the change head on and finding the opportunity within the change is what makes us successful!
The first time I read the book was several years ago when I was experiencing a lot of scary changes in my business, and reading it really helped me change my mind set and focus less on the fear that gripped me and more on the hidden by the fear.
What we have to remember us that at the end of the day, we are humans and entrepreneurs and we are in control of our destiny no matter how big the outside appear to be. It is only when we take this personal responsibility for our lives can we really know true success!
For thoses of you with kids this is a great life lesson to learn, the earlier the better.
There is a kids version of the book http://astore.amazon.com/simpappe-20, but honestly the adult version is also such a great read, most older kids should have no problem with it!
